Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(down 7.21%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 6.78%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 5.99%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(down 5.57%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 5.46%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 5.15%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 5.06%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 5.03%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 4.95%) and Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 4.87%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 742.86 points down at 22161.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 2226.79 points at 73137.9.
Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.65%) and Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 0.22%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Trent Ltd.(down 14.78%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 7.78%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 7.51%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 6.36%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 6.06%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 5.88%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 5.56%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 5.23%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 4.93%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 4.42%) closed in the red.
