Essar Shipping Shares Fall 5% on SFIO Notice, ESM Tag

Shares of Essar Shipping Ltd ended 5% lower on 14th August after touching a day’s high of Rs 28, following the company’s announcement that it had received a notice from the Serious Fraud Investigation Office.

In an exchange filing, the company said the notice seeks an investigation into its affairs under Section 212 of the Companies Act, 2013, and requests specific information.

It added that the notice, dated 11th August 2025, was received from the SFIO’s office on 13th August. No further details about the notice were provided by the stock exchange.

The company also stated that the notice has no material impact on its financial operations or other activities. Currently, the company’s market capitalisation stands at around Rs 565 crore.

At 3:30 PM, the shares of Essar Shipping ended 5.01% lower at Rs 25.97 on NSE.
