Bank Manager Allegedly Embezzles $84,573 From Customer Account, Violating Bank’s ‘Safety and Soundness’ – The Daily Hodl

A former regional sales manager of a Pennsylvania-based bank has allegedly drained tens of thousands of dollars from a customer’s account.

According to new court documents, Krista Murr – who was a regional manager of the Orrstown Bank in Harrisburg – allegedly “misappropriated” $84,573 from a customer’s account between September 2019 and July 2024.

Murr pleaded guilty in April 2025 and was subsequently banned from participating in the finance field and was ordered to pay the customer restitution.

“Murr’s conduct constituted violations of law or regulation, unsafe or unsound banking practices, or breaches of fiduciary duty, and involved her personal dishonesty and her willful and continuing disregard for the Bank’s safety and soundness.”

The documents reveal that Murr is barred from “participating in any manner in the conduct of the affairs of any institution or agency… including, but not limited to, any insured depository institution or any holding company of an insured depository institution, or any subsidiary of such holding company, or any foreign bank or company.”

Data from the Federal Reserve shows that Orrstown Bank is the 226th-largest bank in the United States and has $5.4 billion in consolidated assets.
