Central Banks: An FOMC meeting with updated U.S. macroeconomic forecasts and followed by Chairman Powell’s press conference heads up a menu of scheduled monetary policy reviews that also includes central banks in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Armenia, Pakistan, Serbia and Peru. Williams and Goolsbee of the Federal Reserve, as well as former Chairperson and current U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen will be speaking publicly. So will President Lagarde of the ECB and Governing Council members Nagel and Villeroy; Bank of Japan Governor Ueda; and Bank of Canada Governor Macklem.

Holidays and Special Events: Australians will observe the Queen’s birthday, and China’s Dragon Boat Festival falls within the period. Elections for the European Union Parliament end June 9. The 50th Group of Seven leaders summit runs June 13-15th in Fasano in Apulia, Italy. The first of these annual gatherings was held in November 1975 in Ramboullet, France to share ideas and set broad principles regarding currency market management. Floating dollar exchange rates had replaced fixed parities less than three years earlier.

Scheduled U.S. and Canadian Economic Data Releases: Import prices, producer prices, small business sentiment, and the U. Michigan/Reuters consumer sentiment index.. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, energy inventories, and chain store sales. Canadian housing permits.

Japanese and Chinese Releases: Japanese quarterly GDP and monthly current account, PPI, industrial production, capacity usage, manufacturer sentiment, money and lending growth, machine tool orders, and the tertiary index. Chinese motor vehicle sales, stock of money, and bank lending.

Selected Other Asian Releases: Industrial production in Hong Kong and India. South Korean import prices and unemployment. Indian CPI and trade balance. Indonesian retail sales.

Euroland Data: Consumer price expectations, industrial production and Sentix gauge of investor sentiment.

Members of the Euro Area: German, French, Dutch and Spanish consumer prices. German wholesale prices and Italian trade balance.

U.K. and Switzerland: British labor market statistics, industrial production, construction output, trade balance, RICS housing price index, and monthly GDP. Swiss PPI, consumer confidence, and import prices.

Russia and Czech Republic: Russian GDP and CPI. Czech current account.

Australia and New Zealand: Australian business confidence, business conditions, labor market statistics, and consumer confidence. New Zealand food prices and manufacturing purchasing managers index.

Turkey and South Africa: Turkish retail sales, industrial production, current account and jobless rate. South African factory output.

Brazil and Mexico: Brazilian retail sales, current account and business confidence. Mexican industrial production.
