Elon Musk Says Grok AI Coming to Tesla Vehicles by Next Week
Grok, the AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s startup xAI, is set to be integrated into Tesla vehicles as early as next week. Musk confirmed the move on X, calling it “very soon—next week at the latest.”
The announcement follows the launch of Grok 4, the latest version of the AI model, which Musk claims is smarter than “almost all graduate students.” The model now features improved voice capabilities and has outperformed rivals on several AI benchmarks, according to xAI.
This is the first time a clear timeline has been provided for Grok’s integration with Tesla EVs, something Musk had only previously hinted at.
The rollout comes during a turbulent week for xAI and X. The Grok chatbot faced backlash after its official account posted antisemitic content, prompting deletions and a statement from xAI pledging tighter content controls. Musk addressed the need for AI guardrails during a livestream unveiling Grok 4 but avoided mentioning the controversy directly.
Meanwhile, X CEO Linda Yaccarino resigned just hours before the Grok 4 launch. Her exit comes as xAI and X continue to merge operations, accelerating efforts to integrate Grok into Tesla and other platforms.
