John Paulson: The Subprime Short King
John Alfred Paulson was born on December 14, 1955, in Queens, New York. He graduated from New York University with a degree in finance before earning his MBA from Harvard Business School. Paulson’s early career included stints at Boston Consulting Group and Odyssey Partners, where he honed his analytical and investment skills.
Paulson founded his hedge fund, Paulson & Co., in 1994. Initially, the firm focused on merger arbitrage but later diversified into other areas, including credit opportunities and recovery funds. His firm’s assets under management peaked at around $36 billion.
