Central Banks: Monetary stances will be reviewed in Singapore and Turkey. Williams, Goolsbee and Barkin are some of the Federal Reserve officials speaking publicly during the period. So will Governor Bailey and MPC members Greene and Taylor of the Bank of England, Deputy Governor Hauser and Assistant Governor Hunter of the Reserve Bank of Australia and Governor Breman of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. The Federal Reserve Beige Book of regional economic conditions gets published.
Special Events: Peace talks between the United States and Iran and mediated by Pakistan begin on Saturday. The spring meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington run all week. Parliamentary elections in Hungary and general elections in Peru will be held on Sunday.
Scheduled U.S. Data Releases: Producer prices, import prices, industrial production, capacity utilization, the Empire State and Philly Fed manufacturing surveys, existing home sales, the NAHB housing market survey, Treasury-compiled capital flows, and small business sentiment. Weekly jobless insurance claims, energy inventories, chain store sales, and mortgage applications.
Euroland Releases: CPI, industrial production, current account, trade balance, index of leading economic indicators and ZEW Institute index of investor sentiment.
Members of the Euro Area: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Finnish, Austrian, Croatian and Cypriot consumer prices. Italian, Dutch and Belgian trade balances. Italian, Latvian, and Finnish current accounts. German and French indices of leading economic indicators. Irish construction purchasing managers index and German ZEW index of investor sentiment.
U.K. and Switzerland: British industrial production, monthly GDP, construction output, trade balance, same-store sales, labor market statistics, and index of leading economic indicators. Swiss PPI and import prices.
Eastern Europe: Polish and Bulgarian current accounts. Romanian and Hungarian industrial production. Czech, Polish, Bulgarian and Romanian consumer prices.
Nordic Europe: Swedish CPI and Norwegian trade balance.
Japanese and Chinese Releases: Japanese and Chinese money growth and industrial production. Japanese machinery orders, CPI, capacity usage, and tertiary index. Chinese trade balance, retail sales, property prices, foreign direct investment, and quarterly GDP.
Selected Other Asian Releases: Indian and Malaysian CPI. South Korean import prices and Singaporean GDP. Indian and Singaporean trade balances.
Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and South Africa: Australian consumer confidence, unemployment, employment, consumer sentiment, index of leading economic indicators and indices of business conditions and corporate confidence. New Zealand food prices and service sector purchasing managers index. Turkish retail sales and current account. South African Sacci-compiled business confidence.
Canada, Brazil and Mexico: Canadian housing permits and manufacturing sales. Brazilian housing starts. Brazilian and Mexican indices of leading economic indicators.
