Central Banks: Monetary policies will be reviewed in Poland, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and the Czech Republic. The Fed Beige Book of regional economic conditions and minutes from the December policy meeting of the European Central Bank’s Governing Council will be published. Barkin, Williams, Schmid, Goolsbee and Kashkari of the Federal Reserve and Breeden of the Bank of England speak publicly.

Holidays and Special Events: Japan observes Coming of Age holiday on Monday. The monthly OPEC report arrives on Thursday. Last full week of the Biden presidency.

Scheduled U.S. Data Releases: Consumer prices, producer prices, import prices, retail sales, industrial production, capacity usage, housing starts, building permits, NAHB housing market index, Empire State and Philly Fed manufacturing indices, Treasury-compiled capital flows, RCM/TIPP Optimism index, and NFIB  index of small business sentiment. Weekly new jobless insurance claims, energy inventories, mortgage applications and chain store sales.

Japanese and Chinese Releases: Japanese economy watchers index, money and bank lending growth, machine tool orders, and current account. Chinese quarterly GDP and monthly retail sales, industrial production, auto sales, home prices, unemployment, fixed asset investment and trade balance.

Other Asian Data: trade balances of India, Singapore and Indonesia. Indian WPI and CPI. South Korean unemployment.

Euroland Releases: ZEW expectations index, industrial production, trade balance, current account and index of leading economic indicators.

Members of the Euro Area: German, Italian, French, Spanish, Irish,  Finnish, Slovakian, Austrian, Croatian, Dutch and Portuguese consumer prices. Spanish and Portuguese producer prices. Spanish, Dutch and Italian trade balances. Italian current account, Irish construction purchasing managers index, Italian industrial production, and Spain’s index of leading economic indicators.

British Releases: Monthly GDP, CPI, PPI, industrial production, construction output, retail sales, and RICS house price balance.

Eastern Europe: Hungarian, Romanian, Polish, Russian and Bulgarian consumer prices. Polish and Czech PPI. Romanian GDP and industrial output. Czech retail sales.

Nordic Europe: Swedish consumer prices and Norway’s trade balance.

Australia, New Zealand and Turkey: Australian labor statistics, consumer confidence, and index of leading economic indicators. New Zealand food prices and business purchasing managers survey. Turkish current account and retail sales.

Canada and Brazil: Canadian housing starts and manufacturing sales. Brazilian business confidence and index of leading economic indicators.
