Central Banks: Monetary policies to be reviewed at the Fed and by central banks in Brazil, the U.K., Poland, Sweden, Norway, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Malaysia. Fed Chairman Powell and BOE Governor Bailey hold press conference, and the ECB publishes minutes of its last meeting.
Holidays and Special Events: The U.S. election is on Tuesday. The U.S. returns to standard time on Sunday. China’s Standing Committee for the National People’s Congress meets all week. European Union leaders summit at the end of the week.
Purchasing Manager Surveys: Releases of one sort or another on each of the business week’s first four days, covering manufacturing in a few cases, service sector activities for the most part, or construction for the U.K., Euroland, France, Germany, Italy and Australia.
Scheduled U.S. Releases: Quarterly productivity and unit labor costs. Monthly motor vehicle sales, factory orders, trade deficit, and U. Michigan/Reuters index of consumer confidence. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, chain store sales, and energy inventories.
Euroland Releases: Retail sales, PPI, and Sentix gauge of investor sentiment.
Members of the Euro Area: German, French, Italian, Spanish, Slovakian, Latvian, Estonian, and Austrian industrial production. Italian and Belgian retail sales. German, Portuguese, Slovakian, Estonian, French, and Austrian trade balances. Irish, Cypriot, and Latvian consumer prices. French current account, German industrial orders, Austrian wholesale prices, and Spain’s index of leading economic indicators.
U.K. and Switzerland: British industrial production, construction output, trade balance, RICS house price balance, Halifax house price index, and same-store sales. Swiss consumer confidence and unemployment.
Eastern Europe: Czech, Hungarian and Romanian retail sales and industrial production. Romanian producer prices.
Nordic Europe: Norwegian and Danish industrial production.
Japanese and Chinese Releases: Japanese average cash earnings, household spending, economy watchers index, monetary base and index of leading economic indicators. Chinese trade balance and current account. Japanese and Chinese international reserves.
Other Asia: South Korean and Filipino consumer prices. Indonesian consumer confidence and GDP. Malaysian industrial production and unemployment. South Korea’s index of leading economic indicators and Singaporean retail sales.
Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa: Australian housing permits and trade balance. New Zealand labor costs and unemployment. South African industrial production.
Canada, Mexico and Brazil: Canadian IVEY-PMI index, trade balance and labor market statistics. Mexican and Brazilian consumer prices.
