LICs that pay monthly dividends
I think a lot more LICs will consider moving in the direction of monthly income, a lot of the income focused LICs do well NTA wise (like the WAM funds). PIA was proposed to add monthly dividends but got voted out.
well depending on your investment outcome desires ( i was told to retire in 2017 )
collection of monthly and three-monthly payers , help keep the budget stable ,
waiting for the BHP of WES div is nice but they only ( normally) come twice a year , unexpected expenses can pop up anytime
one problem with the frequent payers ( monthly and three monthly ) will be keeping the div. and franking reserves , solid
i half-expect dividends to shrink in the next two or three years , as the major ( top 50 ) companies try to restructure or expand , and that will flow on to the LICs trying to pass on a decent payout to the share-holders
i am not too sure which other LICs have the franking credits available to compete with the existing monthly payers ( as far as holding ASX listed shares is concerned )
sure i note there are some that pay monthly that deal in corporate debt , but i am VERY careful selecting them ( i hold QRI ) , currently corporate debt can be very tricky , especially if you don’t hold the notes/bonds/hybrids directly .
also there are starting to be quite a few ETFs that pay monthly , and that will attract those focused on the NTA ( rather than dividend paid out , and ETFs don’t smooth out the div. payments ) so some LICs hoping to pay monthly might go the actively managed fund ( ETF ) path
