Helium discussion
Qatar Energy Ras Laffan gas supplies.
Qatar Energy is the sole producer of helium in Qatar, operating major production, storage, and loading facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City. They operate Helium 1 and 2 plants, which previously accounted for approximately 25-30% of global supply, and are a major supplier to companies like Air Liquide, Linde, Messer Group, and Iwatani Corporation.
Helium prices have doubled since the war started and are now likely to extend substantially.
Supply was very constrained and in shortage before this event and demand is only increasing.
I see BNL – Blue Star Helium on the ASX as a potential candidate for advancement as they have recently started producing helium.
There’s also NHE – Noble Helium on the ASX which has seen a ~17% rise in share price over the last week or so.
The United States is the world’s largest producer of helium, contributing roughly one-third of the global supply as of 2025–2026. While the U.S. leads, Qatar is the second-largest producer and hosts some of the largest helium production facilities in the world.
