WallStreetBets Battles Reddit Over $10K Crypto Conference

A conflict between Reddit and Jaime Rogozinski has once again surfaced, this time over a finance and crypto event in Miami.

Originally promoted as “WallStreetBets Live”, the three-day conference changed its name to “[REDACTED] Live” just before launch.

Organizers said in a press release that the change followed “legal threats” from Reddit.

Tickets cost up to $10,000, and the event includes well-known but controversial figures such as Jordan Belfort and Martin Shkreli, both previously convicted of securities fraud.

Sponsors listed on the event’s website include Kraken $350.7M , Pudgy Penguins, and OpenSea. Marketing materials describe it as a gathering “where degens meet Davos”.

Rogozinski founded the WallStreetBets subreddit in 2012, a community that became central to the meme-stock phenomenon.

During the pandemic, its traders helped trigger the GameStop short squeeze, a moment that symbolized small investors taking on major Wall Street funds.

In his statement, Rogozinski warned that Reddit’s actions could “stir a hornet’s nest with a long memory and a track record of collective action”. He accused the company of trying to control “real-world gatherings” tied to a culture it did not build.
