StoneX Becomes First to Offer International Clients Day-One Access to SHFE Nickel Futures | LeapRate | Online Trading Industry News, Broker Intelligence & Fintech Analysis
StoneX Group announced on Wednesday that it is providing clients with immediate access to nickel futures and options listed on the Shanghai Futures Exchange, marking the first time these contracts have been made available to international participants via China’s Overseas Intermediary route.
The launch follows regulatory approval of the SHFE contracts by China’s securities regulator, the CSRC.
The Overseas Intermediary route provides a regulated mechanism through which qualified international participants can access select onshore Chinese futures and options contracts.
StoneX feels the addition of SHFE nickel contracts complements its existing base metals offering across the London Metal Exchange and CME Group.
The combination allows clients to incorporate Chinese domestic market pricing into their broader risk management and hedging strategies. SHFE nickel contracts are among the most actively traded base metal contracts globally.
“We are thrilled that StoneX clients can trade into the SHFE contract from the first day of market open, highlighting our unwavering focus on offering clients the best tools for their trading and hedging strategies,” stated Michael Skinner, Global Head of Metals, StoneX.
“We remain wholly committed to bringing the full suite of StoneX capabilities to our global clients, moving quickly to support how they access markets in ways that are most relevant to their objectives.”
